John Amos Comenius
Comenius’ vision
John Amos Comenius had a lifelong dream. He wanted to see the improvement of all of mankind. He knew that people made poor choices but that they were not entirely lost; they could be corrected and restored. He summed up these thoughts in his masterpiece General Consultation on an Improvement of All Things Human, but he didn’t complete the work. Comenius trusted God that such correction isn’t impossible. However, it can’t be done without repentance and restoration and in relationship with the Creator.
Goals of the project
Our main goal is to invite the whole nation (mainly through the students
and young people) to finish Comenius’ Improvement.
We want to see these key outputs of the project:
- methodology materials,
- 500 schools participating,
- 200 cooperating local churches,
- 40 trained Christian speakers and teachers,
- accompanying public events by partnering organizations.
Why in the Czech Republic?
Although it has a rich Christian heritage, the Czech Republic is among the top 5 most atheistic countries in the world and the most atheistic in Europe. The schools, however, are open to Christian programs. Josiah Venture wants to take advantage of this situation and train Christian teachers and speakers to bring the Gospel to Czech elementary schools and high schools.
